The Bornean Orangutan
The Bornean orangutan is adorable! Their faces make me think of plates. They have a kind of flat circular type of face. I really recommend searching images of them because they are so cute!
The Bornean orangutan is actually really interesting. Did you know that they have 97% of the same DNA as we do? It’s incredible! They are actually really intelligent and can do so many things us humans can do!
However, these incredible animals populations are going down. In prehistoric times, these gorgeous animals lived all the way upto the forests in northern China! Amazing isn’t it?! Although now they have been pushed to the island Borneo, and their population is estimated to only be fifty-thousand to sixty-thousand! That’s so small for a species' (almost human) population. Per-usual, the reason for their small population is due to poaching, and their habitat being destroyed. So unfortunately they are now critically endangered.
I hope the few articles (more to come) have helped encourage you to support wildlife conservation! Like all my articles, here’s a link to a list of endangered animals. I encourage everyone to look at these endangered animals themselves as well.
